New Neighbors Social in Black Rock
February 11, 2008 by admin commentThe third annual New Neighbors Social was sponsored once again by the Ash Creek Conservation Association at the Fayerweather Yacht Club on February 2, 2008. This event is by invitation only to new neighbors who have moved into Black Rock over the past year and to Ash Creek Conservation Association members. There were 80 attendees and it was a lively event. A $5 cover charge helped to defray costs and a number of attendees brought wonderful homemade appetizers and desserts. There was a cash bar. The Ash Creek Conservation Association (ACCA) picked up the remaining costs and volunteers from ACCA organized and ran the event. Special thanks to Lydia Barrieau, Kraig Steffen, Lilyan Hawkins, Barry Hawkins, Mary Erkan, and Donna Curran for their volunteer work which made this event possible.
The featured speaker was Charles Brilvitch, our former city historian, who gave a talk and slide show about the history of Black Rock and Bridgeport. This was followed by a Q&A session with Charles.
If you would like to be invited to this event next year, click on the photo of Ash Creek on the right side of this page and download a membership form or send an e-mail to ashcreekassoc@optonline.org. If you know of new neighbors who should be invited, please send their info as well.
