Want to help Burroughs Community Center during the next party you throw?  We have just the way to do it!   Licensed Massage Therapist, Danielle Doonan, has offered her talents to benefit Burroughs.   Hire Danielle for your party, your guests enjoy 10-15 minute chair massages or  even table massages  and Danielle will donate 50% of her fee to the Burroughs Community Center.    Party hosts will receive big thanks from their friends as well as a $20 gift certificate towards a massage by Danielle at Serenity

    That's why Burroughs has a Tutoring Program for our kids. So many of them want to learn, to understand and to succeed, but they need one-on-one help.

    For three years the Burroughs Community Center has worked with the Tauck Foundation to offer a summer travel experience to middle school students.  This year 25 students will spend seven days in California focusing on “the immigrant experience”.  Travelers have been working towards the trip for six months with weekly sessions led by Burroughs staff.  They have benefited from team building exercises and professionally

    Thanks to an overwhelming response, a second screening of THE ACCIDENTAL MAYOR, a new documentary by award-winning filmmaker Larry Locke has been scheduled to benefit the Burroughs Community Center.  The documentary chronicles John Fabrizi's years as the Mayor of Bridgeport and will be shown on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 7:00 P.M.

    The Quick Start Language Center allows community members to learn a language at their own pace, on their schedule using laptop computers and Pimsleur software… for FREE!  14 languages are available for English speakers including Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Italian, German and more. English is available for Spanish and Portuguese speakers.

    An update on the status of  Black Rock Library will be presented by City Librarian Scott Hughes and architect Mark Halstead  at our next membership meeting to be held this Thursday, April 10th, 7 PM at the Burroughs Community Center. Other items on the agenda include public safety initiatives, lighthouse stabilization efforts, Black Rock Day planning and of course a social complete with refreshments immediately following the meeting.  Thanks and see you Thursday.
