Like throwing a party?
Want to help Burroughs Community Center's youth programs and have fun at the same time?
Do you have a special skill you would like to share with a small group of kids at a community center in Bridgeport? Burroughs Community Center is looking for individuals to volunteer with our 5th-8th graders from 4/4:30-5:30PM any week day.
After reading the appeal I made to the City of Bridgeport last week in the city council chambers please consider visiting our website www.BlackRockFoodPantry.com and making a small donation if you can:
Are you ready?
Saturday February 7th 2009 is Burroughs 2nd annual Freezin' for a Reason!
Dozens of supporters will be running into the ice cold waters of Long Island Sound to help raise money for the Burroughs Community Center ~ and we want you to join in on the fun!
To make a donation or to create your online fundraising page go to www.Firstgiving.com/burroughs and get family & friends to support you right away!
Alpha Community Services will be holding its 7th Annual Walk to End Homelessness on May 17th, 2008. The walk starts at Captains Cove, and continues through Black Rock. The Annual Walk to End Homelessness raises awareness about the problem of homelessness in the region, and serves as Alpha Community Services' main fundraising event.
Public Safety/Block Watch Breakfast Seminar
January 19th from 9 to 10:30 AM
Held at the Burroughs Community Center
Please join the BRCC for a social breakfast to talk about forming our block watch as well as any public safety concerns. Below is a description of how the block watch works. We are looking for volunteers to join in this effort as Area coordinators and Street Captains. Hope you join us on January 19th.
How the BRCC Neighborhood Block Watch works:
10/15 Burglary on Courtland - Back window screen cut house was entered and a camera, computer and jewelry were missing.
10/22 Burglary on Grovers - back door open no sign of break in beer was consumed and necklaces stolen. Later on the midnight shift in different precinct an arrest was made of a young man in possession of the necklaces. Good police work!!!
A Black Rock Neighborhood Block Watch organizing meeting will be held by the Black Rock Community Council (BRCC) and the Bridgeport Police Department on August 2 (changed from July 11) at 7 PM at the Burroughs Community Center. The BRCC Security Committee will be working with the Bridgeport Police Department to promote the safety and security of the Black Rock community.
Remember the nighttime burglaries in 1998?
