You may know the game as Cornhole or Bag-O and have seen it played in stadium parking lots before a football game or at a neighborhood BBQ.  It is huge in many parts of the country and has become very popular in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport where Burroughs is located.

Meet with Mayor Finch, Acting City Tax Assessor Elaine Carvalho, and Board of Assessment Appeals Chair Rich DeParle along with other public officials on Wednesday, March 25 at 7 PM at the Burroughs Community Center, 2470 Fairfield Avenue.  This meeting is being sponsored by the Greater Fairfield County Property Owners Association, Inc. and will focus on property taxes and the city budget.  A large turnout will indicate that we have concerns about these issues.

Dozens of supporters will be running into the ice cold waters of Long Island Sound to help raise money for the Burroughs Community Center  ~ and we want you to join in on the fun!

The Bridgeport fireworks at Seaside Park are scheduled for Friday, June 27 at 9:15 PM (rain date is Sunday).  Music will be simulcast on STAR 99.9 FM.  The Bridgeport fireworks are visible from the shoreline from the Black Rock Yacht Club to Captain's Cove, but not along St. Mary's.  The Fairfield fireworks, which are set from a barge off Penfield Beach are visible from St.

The Black Rock Community Council is sponsoring its 2nd Annual Walking Tour of Fayerweather Island
with local historian Charles Brilvitch and landscape architect
Stuart Sachs on Sunday, April 13. The tour leaves at 1:00 PM from the breakwater
leading to Fayerweather Island and is free for members and $5.00
