Happy Thanksgiving and Thank You from the Black Rock Food Pantry.  It is that time of year again when we pause, count our blessings and give thanks for what we have. During this time we also look outward and realize that there are many families that struggle each day to provide for their families the most basic of necessities.  The volunteers at the Black Rock Food Pantry work throughout the year on a mission to seek out, help and feed families in need.

UPDATE:  The Pogey concert last Tuesday night was a big success! There were hundreds in attendance and with the combined efforts of The Black Rock Community Council, The S.S. Norden Club and The Black Rock Food Pantry, $6,000.00 was raised for the food pantry and hundreds of pounds of food donations were provided by attendees!

The Art Gallery of Black Rock is now presenting the work of V. Michael Raleigh.  Mr. Raleigh as a gift to the Black Rock Food Pantry, will donate the proceeds of his work titled “Wait No More” The Painting is on sale now for $500.00 and showing ends July 16.  Please visit the galley at 2861 Fairfield Avenue in Black Rock. On Saturday, March 7, two members of each Black Rock community organization were invited to attend a meeting to develop strategies and plans for working together. Our community has become a model for other neighborhoods in the city to emulate because of the deep involvement in civic activities by our residents. The Black Rock Community Council, which was established in 1978, took the lead role in sponsoring the Black Rock Summit and inviting the participants, which included our State Representative Auden Grogins and City Councilperson Sue Brannelly.
